Okaloosa County continues its mission to provide quality health-related services by incorporating a Community Paramedicine program within the Emergency Medical Services division
Community Paramedics provide non-emergency health services in a mobile integrated health environment that include scheduled home visits, education and access to other health providers thus reducing ambulance utilization and costly emergency room visits.
The goal of Community Paramedicine is to provide care outside of an emergency setting, help improve health and wellness, and create an environment that gives patients the tools to maintain good health.
Community Paramedics also serve with the Post Overdose Support Team (POST), a multi-agency effort to combat opioid addiction and fentanyl overdoses. The POST team consists of representatives from law enforcement, Okaloosa County EMS, and Bridgeway Center Inc. who provide rapid and ongoing support and resources to individuals who have survived a drug overdose within the previous 72 hours.
Individuals interested in receiving paramedicine services or to submit an email OCEMSMIH@myokaloosa.com or call 850-651-7566.
