Meet Deputy County Administrator Jason Autrey (Development Services)

Jason Autrey serves as the Deputy County Administrator of Development Services for Okaloosa County, overseeing the Growth Management, Public Works, and Water & Sewer departments, which include nearly 400 employees and $170 million in annual operating and capital improvement budgets.  Mr. Autrey also oversees major facility capital construction projects performed by the County.

 

Mr. Autrey holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida, is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Florida, a certified Supervisory Manager, and a certified Public Manager.  In a professional career spanning over 30 years, he has over two decades of experience in the government sector, all with Okaloosa County, and prior experience as a consultant in civil engineering.

 

As a practicing civil engineer, he has specialized experience in site development/design, stormwater management, and transportation systems. In his time with Okaloosa County, he has implemented procedures for disaster preparedness/recovery, led projects for major facility improvements such as the Okaloosa County Courthouse in Crestview and Administration Building in Shalimar and has managed the team for the implementation of the voter-approved Infrastructure Surtax.

 

Mr. Autrey began his engineering career while still a student in Gainesville, Florida, performing subdivision and stormwater management system designs before moving to the panhandle in 2000, where he continued his work as a consultant for local governments. 

 

He joined Okaloosa County in the Public Works Department in 2004 as the Engineer III, performing plan reviews.  In his time with the County, Mr. Autrey has served as Engineer III, Engineering Manager, County Engineer, Public Works Director, and in his current position as the Deputy County Administrator of Development Services.

 

Mr. Autrey’s wife Amanda, is a lifelong Okaloosa resident and they have three daughters.  He enjoys woodworking, spending time outdoors, and sports – especially football.  Having lived in Destin, Fort Walton Beach, and Holt, he has developed many friendships and relationships in Okaloosa County.
