Inmate Services & Programs
The following is a partial list of the programs currently available to Okaloosa County Inmates.

 

Inmate Commissary


A commissary is operated by the Department to allow inmates the opportunity to purchase writing materials and an assortment of comfort items. Tobacco products are not permitted on the premises. The facility has been smoke-free since January 1, 1995. Proceeds from commissary sales support a variety of inmate programs and services. 

 

Inmates released/transferred before the receipt of their commissary order must arrange for pick up within 30 days of release. There will be no refunds.

 
  
Library Services


A library that includes both fiction and non-fiction material is made available on the inmate tablets. Pro Se inmates are provided reasonable access to legal materials on their tablets to assist them in filing any type of action cognizable in Florida Courts.

 

Visitation

Inmate communications has changed it contracted provider from Securus to Homewav.

 

Video Visitation permits each inmate in general population to have the opportunity for at least two hours of visitation each week. A particular visit or visitor may be denied in order to maintain the safety, security and good order of the facility. All visitors are required to register for a Homewav account. Additional information may be required. 

 

Remote visitations can now be done on the inmate tablet and are available 7-days a week, including holidays, from 7:00 am - 9:55 pm.

 

Attorneys - To set up a non-recorded attorney visitation account you will follow the same steps in the link below then will need to email a copy of your BAR card to DOCVisitation@myokaloosa.com prior to the account being approved. Once your attorney account has been approved, you will be sent additional instructions on setting up visitations with your clients

 

Clergy - Only previously approved facility clergy will be permitted to set up clergy accounts for remote visits in the Homewav system.

 

 

Public Visitation: The location has changed. Public visitation is provided at no cost to the visitor. You must sign up for a Homewav account to be able to schedule for these visits. Visits are scheduled 24 hours in advance. The inmate must attend these visits on the kiosks located in their housing section. All visitors and their property are subject to search.

  • Times: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4pm and closed for all holidays

 

The kiosks at this new location have the ability for the public to set up Homewav accounts and schedule upcoming visits.

 

How to Cancel the Securus Video Connect Subscription?

 

 

Any media purchased on the Securus tablets will not be carried over to the new vendor. Photos and messages sent on the Securus platform may be retrieved by submitting a public records request to riskinfo@myokaloosa.com. For any other questions regarding you securus accounts please contact Securus directly 800-844-6591.

 

Religious Services

 


All inmates shall be afforded a reasonable opportunity to practice their religious beliefs. A facility Chaplin has been appointed to coordinate religious services and activities. www.goodnewsjail.org 

 

Exercise


Inmates shall have the opportunity to have a minimum of three hours of outdoor exercise a week, weather permitting.

 

Mail


General correspondence between inmates and their families or others is encouraged. Inmates may receive mail using the following address:

The only items that may be sent to an inmate in the mail include approved legal material and written letters. Cards are not permitted to be sent. Mail will be rejected and returned to the sender unopened if it is sent in large envelopes or bubble/padded envelopes. Any item larger than ¼” x 12” x 15” will be considered a package and returned.

 

Except for holidays, mail will be forwarded to and received from the post office Monday through Friday. Incoming and outgoing inmate mail is monitored and may be inspected to intercept contraband. All mail received will be scanned in to the inmate account in Homewav and able to be accessed on their tablets/kiosks.

 

Newspaper and magazine are not permitted to be sent to the jail.

 

Inmate Financial Account

 

The inmate financial account provides the inmates with the ability to order commissaries and pay any incurred debt while at our facility. Funds may be deposited in this account with cash, money orders and debit/credit cards. A kiosk is located in the Public Lobby to accept cash and debit/credit cards. Money orders must be made payable to Okaloosa County Department of Corrections with the inmate’s name written on the bottom. Money orders must be mailed to the facility and received no later than 6 am Friday for the funds to be available to order commissary the following week. The balance on an inmate account may not exceed $1000.00 at any given time.

 

Funds may be deposited via the Internet by setting up an account at https://deposits.jailatm.com/webdeposits/. 

 

Inmate Homewav Account

 

The inmate Homewav account is used to fund various programs located on the inmate tablets. Phone calls, games, music, movies, tv, various subscriptions and more can be paid for with this account. Funds may be deposited in an inmate's debit account by setting up an account at HomewavAn inmate has the option to transfer up to $50.00/week from their financial account to their Homewav account.

 

Other Services


The following organizations may also provide services to inmates: mental health centers; substance abuse programs; county health departments; county school boards; ministerial associations; vocational rehabilitative services; and others.
