The Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission was formed to establish a process by which jails across the state could evaluate and improve their overall performance through a formal accreditation process. Our facility obtained full accreditation in 2004, 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019 and again in 2022. The jail’s medical provider also received national-level accreditation through the National Commission on Correctional Health Care in 2005, 2008, 2011, 2014, 2017 and again in 2020.

Accreditation is a long-term and continuing goal of this department requiring a lot of hard work and dedication on the part of jail staff. In the end, however, the process helps us maintain the highest level of professional service to the community, and provide a thorough review of the department’s status and readiness.

Cost of Incarceration

New arrivals at the jail learn that being incarcerated can be costly in more ways than one. Inmates are billed for a portion of the costs incurred for their care. They are charged a subsistence fee each time they are booked and a co-payment for medical services and prescriptions. Fees are collected to help offset the cost of incarceration paid by the taxpayers.

Training/Education

To enter the field of Corrections, officers must successfully complete a Correctional Officer Basic Recruit Academy at a certified criminal justice training center, and pass the state officers certification examination. Non-Certified Corrections Technicians are afforded the opportunity to be placed on track to attend the Academy.
