Affordable Housing Advisory Committee meetings are held at 1:00 p.m. at the following locations:

  • Okaloosa County Administrative Building (OCAB), 1250 Eglin Pkwy N. Shalimar, FL 32579 in the1st floor training room. 
  • Brackin Building, 302 N. Wilson St., Crestview, FL 32536 in the 3rd floor conference room.

Authority:  FS Chapter 420 and County Code of Ordinances Section 11.5 and per Resolution 13-46.

Purpose: This committee shall serve in an advisory capacity to the Okaloosa County Board of County Commissioners and the City of Fort Walton Beach Council on issues related to affordable housing and to perform functions as provided in the Okaloosa County Code Section 11.5-6 and Chapter 420, Florida Statutes.

 

Members:  Committee consists of 11 members

  • One resident who is actively engaged in the residential home-building industry in connection with affordable housing

  • One resident who is actively engaged in the banking or mortgage banking industry in connection with affordable housing

  • One resident who is a representative of those areas of labor actively engaged in home building in connection with affordable housing

  • One resident who is actively engaged as an advocate for low-income persons in connection with affordable housing

  • One resident who is actively engaged as a for-profit provider of affordable housing

  • One resident who is actively engaged as a not-for-profit provider of affordable housing

  • One resident who is actively engaged as a real estate professional in connection with affordable housing

  • One resident who actively serves on the local planning agency pursuant to s. 163.3174. If the local planning agency is comprised of the governing board of the county or municipality, the governing board may appoint a designee who is knowledgeable in the local planning process

  • One resident who resides within the jurisdiction of the local governing body making the appointments

  • One resident who represents employers within the jurisdiction

  • One resident who represents essential services personnel, as defined in the local housing assistance plan
